Krystal Quiles has been making drawings in her room since she could hold a pencil. An artist and illustrator originally from the Bronx, she now creates her work in Philadelphia and New York City. After earning a BFA in Communication Design from Pratt Institute in 2014, Krystal has illustrated books, contributed to magazine editorials, collaborated with design teams on a National Museum exhibit, and received a Pura Belpré Honor for Children’s Illustration.

Whether inspired by a song playing in her head or a stylish couple strolling down the street, Krystal aims to capture the carefree whimsy and curiosity we all experienced as children. On the page, she uses texture and color to connect with viewers, and off the page, she enjoys tending to houseplants, dance breaks and biking around cities.
